BorderWare Tops MXtreme Line with New MX-1000BorderWare Tops MXtreme Line with New MX-1000New Appliance Delivers Carrier-level Performance, Fault-Tolerance for High AvailabilityDALLAS & TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 20, 2004--BorderWare Technologies Inc., The Security Appliances Company(TM), today announced a new high end model of its award-winning MXtreme Mail Firewall. The MX-1000 is designed for large enterprises providing carrier-level throughput for 10,000 or more users per system, setting a new benchmark in performance and fault-tolerance for high availability in the mail firewall appliance market. Already, several MX-1000 systems have been delivered to customer sites, some planning to process up to three million messages per day. MXtreme Mail Firewall appliances protect messaging systems from security threats that could paralyze email communications. The system analyzes header information and the content of all SMTP messages, scanning for spam, viruses, malformed messages, restricted attachments, and other content, then writes that information to its internal database and system logs before sending the message along to internal servers like Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino. Performance BorderWare's new MX-1000 model is capable of processing as much as 100,000 messages per hour with all its security protections enabled. This represents a doubling of performance above the MX-800, BorderWare's highest end appliance until the MX-1000. Fault-Tolerance To ensure higher levels of hardware availability, the MX-1000 is designed with a number of fault-tolerant features, including redundant disk drives, redundant hot-swappable power supplies, multiple network interfaces that can support redundant network links, and field replaceable parts. The MX-1000 system's four hard drives are configured to stripe and mirror providing RAID 10 redundancy. Technical Specifications The 2U format MX-1000 includes: - Dual 3.06 GHz Intel Xeon Processors with 512KB L2 Cache - 2 GB RAM - DDR, ECC, LP, Registered - 4-72GB Hard Drives, Ultra-320 SCSI, 80-Pin SCA, LC - Adaptec 2010S Zero Channel RAID Controller (RAID 10) - 4 - 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet NICs - Redundant Power Supplies - LCD Display About BorderWare BorderWare Technologies Inc. is The Security Appliances Company.
