GetThere adds dining optionsGetThere adds dining optionsHotel Booking As part of its technology sharing initiative with Travelocity, GetThere is enabling business travelers to reserve dining and activity options in locations around the world through its new agreement with OpenTable. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we've discounted 2 of our most popular packages for travel in January and February. Travel Agency The new capabilities, available this quarter to GetThere users on the four major global distribution systems, are the latest in a series of enhancements that bring more leisure travel capabilities into the GetThere application. GetThere is enhancing its booking capability by allowing users to search for flights by price as well as by date and time. This facility is expected to be available by the end of the first quarter this year for businesses whose travel management companies use the Sabre GDS (global distribution system), and later this year for those whose travel is booked through Amadeus, Galileo or Worldspan. Floyd Widener, vice president of GetThere and corporate travel at Sabre Travel Network, said the feature had been developed at the specific request of several European customers. Cheap Hotel GetThere users will be able to make dining reservations at more than 4,500 restaurants from a corporation's GetThere home page. A link connects travelers to OpenTable.com, a Web site that has live Internet connections to reservation systems at participating restaurants. OpenTable seats more than one million diners each month through its Web site service, which is free for business travelers and travel arrangers. Diners can review menu and pricing guides prior to making a reservation, and they receive confirmation e-mails that include directions, parking information and other restaurant details. Diners can include special requests for the maitre d' and send e-mail invitations to other diners. "We integrated the use of the customer's email client with our group travel planning and booking tools, providing an easy way to network with other group members, " said Stacy. Each group receives a personalized Web page with hotel options, amenities, and destination information. Taking advantage of Microsoft's .net platform and social networking technology group members can discuss which hotels best suit their needs as well as alternate destination options and desired trip activities. Flight Booking "OpenTable.com is an ideal service for business travelers and assistants who organize agendas for executives," said Jaleh Bisharat, vice president of marketing for OpenTable. "In many cases, they're booking their reservations before or after restaurant operating hours, when no one is there to take their call." All packages include airfare and hotel accommodations with the option of adding tours and transfers for a carefree and complete travel experience. Travel Agent The addition of the Activities section on the GetThere home page marks the latest example in the broad-reaching technology sharing initiative between GetThere and Travelocity. Please access the link to the Booking Engine on the Icelandair Travel Agent page. After accessing, you will see three options for making a booking, please choose the option named “Packages”.
