Mr Hultner, who was previously General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco, has spent the past 23 years with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in various management positions. These include Resident Manager of the award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong as well as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Manila. In 1985, Mr Hultner transferred to San Francisco to oversee the opening of the Group`s prestigious US hotel, playing an integral role in ensuring its success as one of the most well-recognised hotels in the USA. As Chief Executive Officer, Mr Hultner oversees the Group`s operations in the USA and assists the development team in acquiring new properties. Other responsibilities include assistance with the project management of hotels under development in the USA, including Mandarin Oriental, Miami, which is currently under construction and due to open in the year 2000. Mr Hultner also provides direction to the Group`s other existing hotel in the USA, Kahala Mandarin Oriental, Hawaii. An Austrian citizen, Mr Hultner attended hotel school in Europe as well as executive programmes at Harvard and Stanford Universities.
