I had no idea Cape Town was so modern and picturesque, with mountains sloping into the ocean and wildebeest and springbok feeding in fields just outside town. Families of baboons greet you at highway rest stops, and beautiful Table Mountain overlooks the city and marks the first stepping stone of a range extending 100 miles up the coast. South Africa's coastline is one of the most varied and beautiful in the world, stretching for nearly 2,000 miles from Namibia in the west to Mozambique in the east.

Hotel Booking Hymie Steyn treated us to a relaxed day of touring a vineyard in one of the three fruit- and wine-producing valleys of the western Cape. The scenic winelands, embraced by majestic mountain ranges, present a panorama of vineyards and winding oak-lined roads, taking us past whitewashed, historical homesteads and wine cellars.
