Men's tennis, golf hit up Orlando for warmer competitionMen's tennis, golf hit up Orlando for warmer competitionDate 4/6/2006 12:00 AM | Topic: SportsMen's tennis drops three The men's tennis team had a rough spring break trip to Orlando, Fla. with one cancelled match and three losses, one each to Kenyon College (Ohio), Denison (Ohio) and Florida Tech. The men played their closest match Wed. March 29 against Florida Tech, winning two singles matches and one doubles match. Bjorn Hanson ('07) and Reid Mason ('08) won their matches at numbers five and six, respectively. The doubles team of Jared Wiklund ('08) and Brad Nelson ('08) also won their match at number three. Against Kenyon Mon. March 27 the men won one singles match and one doubles match. Hanson won his singles match at number six and Nelson and Wiklund won their game at number three doubles. Against Denison Sun. March 26 the men were unable to win a match. Golf wins triangular, takes 10th The Norse men's golf team finished 10th of 20 teams at the Loras Invitational Saturday. The tournament was scheduled for two days but was shortened due to poor weather. Conference opponents, Central College and Wartburg took first and second places, respectively. Leading the men was Ed Witkowski ('06) who tied for 18th place with an 18-hole shot total of 76. Following closely were Ben Hanson ('07) and Nick Sikkink ('09) with shot totals of 77 and 78, respectively. Paul Soener ('09) and Andy Hoegh ('06) rounded out the Norse five with shot totals of 80 and 84, respectively. Also competing, but not affecting the team score, were Tom Lantzy ('09) and Adam Darula ('07), with shot totals of 79 and 81, respectively. Over spring break the men traveled to Orlando, Fla. and beat Warner Southern (Fla.) and the University of Sioux Falls in a triangle match. Sikkink led the men with a shot total of 77.
