The Accor Corporate Contract, available only to businesses, lets you save time by booking hotels at net rates adapted to your volume while optimizing your travel costs.

Flight Booking "Track 2 is for 33rd Street!" Merriman said. "Track 1 is for Exchange Place only! It's the same schedule it was before 9/11! If you're going to Hoboken, take it two stops and change!"

Hotel Chicago "Where do I get the Manhattan train?" one person asked. "How do I go to Hoboken?" asked another.

Online Booking Amid a barrage of questions, Merriman was thrown just once - when a commuter looking to exit the station asked, "Which way is up?"

Travel Health Insurance Some of yesterday's chaos resulted from changes in PATH train service.

Hotel Reservation There is no longer direct service from Newark to 33rd Street in Manhattan. Newark trains stop at Exchange Place, and those traveling to New York City must transfer at Journal Square, with inbound Newark trains arriving 2 minutes before 33rd Street trains depart.

London Hotel Booking One man angry about the transfer argued with Merriman, calling the changes "stupid."

Discount Travel "9/11 was also stupid," Merriman replied calmly. "We're doing the best we can."

Orlando Hotel After the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the Exchange Place PATH station was closed for repairs and an ambitious, $160 million expansion project that transformed the former "through" station into a terminal, like the one in Hoboken.

Booking Agency The project called for drilling new "cross-over" tunnels just west of the Exchange Place platform that allow incoming trains to switch over to the correct outgoing track.

International Travel Medical The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs the PATH system, spent another $160 million to completely gut and rehabilitate the tunnels beneath the Hudson River that connect Exchange Place and Lower Manhattan. Add to that $244 million being spent to construct a temporary PATH station in Lower Manhattan that's expected to open by November.

New York Hotel Commuters coming out of the Exchange Place station yesterday couldn't have been happier.

Online Travel Booking Few had time to stop and talk to newspaper and television reporters waiting at the entrance to the station, located on the east side of the high-rise at 10 Exchange Place. Some ran to catch a ferry to Manhattan, or walked briskly to one of the office towers on the waterfront.

Travel Medical Insurance Kelvin Oliver, a 21-year-old intern at Merrill Lynch in Jersey City, said he's been taking the PATH train from Newark to Grove Street, where he catches a shuttle to the waterfront. Oliver, who grew up in Jersey City, said his commute is more convenient now.

Miami Hotel "I'm just glad to see that Exchange Place station is back, just in time for the heat," Oliver said.

Air Deccan Booking Joe Amato, a bond trader who works at 10 Exchange Place, said he welcomes any relief in his commute time, which after Sept. 11, 2001 increased to one hour and 20 minutes. He said he saves 10 minutes by not having to get off at Grove Street.

Las Vegas Nevada Travel Port Authority officials said they wouldn't have an exact count of the number of people who yesterday used the Exchange Place station until today.

Las Vegas Nv Hotel But yesterday afternoon, Port Authority spokesman Steve Coleman said that based on morning figures, the bi-state agency estimated that 5,000 people used the station yesterday. Before Sept. 11, some 15,000 weekday riders used the station.

Hotel Florence Booking Online "Ridership was probably better than we expected," Coleman said. "It definitely was light. But we're hopeful that as time goes on and more people learn about it, we'll see ridership grow gradually between now and the end of the year."

Orlando Travel For some, the walk from Grove Street to Exchange Place became a way to exercise.

Hilton Hotel Robin McDaniel, a graphic artist who works at 90 Hudson on the waterfront, said she enjoyed the walk.

Booking Delta Com "I like to eat, so I need to exercise," she said.

Travel Insurance Online But now, with the Exchange Place station operating again, McDaniel said she'll exercise at home. "I'll be warm now when the winter comes. It gets really cold when the wind blows off the water."

London Hotel The new station at Exchange Place will alter foot traffic on the waterfront, with some commuters coming from Hoboken opting for the PATH train over the light rail.

Online Hotel Booking Andrew Pappas, vice president of operations at Markers Harborside Grille on the southeast corner of the Harborside Financial Center, is hoping that will translate into more sales.

Travel Insurance Pappas said he lost much of the foot traffic that went past his establishment as people headed toward the Exchange Place PATH station. Before yesterday, people would walk out the front of the building to catch either a shuttle bus or a light rail train.

Paris Hotel Pappas said there is also more competition among waterfront restaurants and bars. But with the Exchange Place station now operating, "business should pick up," Pappas said recently.

Airline Booking But Pappas's gain is temporarily Frank Baio's loss.

Travel Trailer Baio, general manager of Uno Chicago Bar and Grill on the corner of Christopher Columbus Drive and Washington Street, said late last month that he expects to lose business from all the people who had to walk to the Grove Street PATH station on their way home from work on the waterfront.

San Francisco Hotel "They can go straight to Exchange Place so we're going to lose a lot of foot traffic," he said.

Air Ticket Booking The bright side for Baio comes in November, when the World Trade Center station opens. That's when Baio expects to see more business from those who park their cars in one of the many lots near his restaurant and take the PATH train to work in Lower Manhattan.
