***POSTPONED - Phoenix House Tournament to Target Billfish and Fun Fish

KEY WEST, Florida Keys -- Anglers are to compete for more than $25,000 in cash and prizes while targeting all species of billfish as well as dolphin, wahoo and tuna in the Phoenix House Fishing Tournament. Scheduled Thursday through Saturday, May 5-7, the tournament is a qualifying event for the 2006 Rolex/International Game Fish Association Offshore Championship.

Anglers can fish in the tournament's billfish division or in the billfish and fun fish divisions while benefiting Phoenix House, the United States' leading nonprofit drug abuse treatment and prevention organization.

Cash prizes are to be awarded to the three boats scoring the highest number of points for catching and releasing blue marlin, white marlin and other billfish. Teams registered in the fun fish division are slated to earn cash prizes for the three largest dolphin, wahoo and tuna caught.

The tournament is to kick off with a 3 p.m. registration Thursday, May 5, followed by a captains meeting and welcome party at the Radisson Hotel and its Splash Poolside Bar Grill, 3820 N. Roosevelt Blvd.

The following two days, lines are to be in the water from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Official weigh-in is scheduled for 4-6 p.m. each day at Key West's Historic Seaport.

Anglers are invited to gather for food and fun at a 7 p.m. fish fry after Friday's fishing. Following Saturday's fishing, an awards dinner and reception are set for 7 p.m.

The entry fee, which allows one angler to fish and includes two social passes, is $850 per boat for the billfish division. There is no maximum number of anglers per boat, but each additional angler must pay $200 to fish and participate in tournament social events. For an additional $350 per boat, a team registered in the billfish division also can enter the fun fish division.

Additional social privileges for guests who are not fishing are available for $100 per person.
