London Hotel Booking AMEXs Stephen Echard revealed that the Business Travel Show is a very important venue for AMEX, who were highlighting and leveraging their online presence, which now constitutes 20% of their business in the UK and Ireland and has sparked a great deal of interest amongst corporates. According to Stephen, now that the technology for online booking is in place and is robust enough to deliver solutions with savings to be made, AMEX clients are ready for the online revolution. Discount Travel Stephen is very optimistic about business travel for 2005. From signs we are seeing, we think business travel 2005 is going to be very buoyant. Businesses will continue to travel and to increase their travelling population, but companies are looking for the most cost-effective deals so we are witnessing some downsizing, some rationalising between first and business class products youve also got the mid-economy products. In terms of transactions and transaction volume, we believe that transaction volume will increase in 2005. Orlando Hotel "Asia and China is becoming increasingly more important; the volume of trade being done between London and China and its phenomenal and looks set to explode over the next couple of years". Booking Agency According to Expedia, who were exhibiting at the Business Travel Show for the first time, showcasing their corporate online booking tool, demand from corporations is very high. Christophe Peymirat, Managing Director, Expedia Corporate Travel commented: This is the main show in Europe as far as corporate travel is concerned. It is where we meet with travel managers and corporate buyers from UK and other European countries. International Travel Medical Virgin trains have recently installed wireless internet access at first-class lounges at Piccadilly and Euston and according to a spokesperson will soon be available on all trains. Meanwhile Eurostar (pictured) recently launched Wi-Fi internet access in its Waterloo International terminal and at Ashford International station. The service will enable business and leisure travellers to use their wireless-enabled laptops or PDAs to connect to the internet and email services without having to plug directly into a telephone socket.
