Cancun's Beaches

The hotel zone in Cancun is really one long beach. Almost all the beaches are public (except by Club Med) and within walking distance of a hotel or facility.

The best beaches for swimming and snorkeling are on the north end of the hotel zone. Located side-by-side in such a small area, the beach conditions are relatively similar with lots of sun and sand. The northern beaches include Playa Las Perlas, Playa Linda, Playa Langosta, Playa Tortugas and Playa Caracol. The beaches on the east side are subject to strong waves and a heavy undertow. On the eastern front you'll find such beaches as Gaviota Azul, Chac Mool, Playa Marlín, Playa Ballenas, San Miguelito, Playa Delfines and Punta Nizuc. Gaviota Azul, Chac Mool and Playa Marlin are all great for water sports. San Miguelito has a small Mayan ruin.
