Yahoo! Mail Also Introduces New Innovative Anti-Spam Tools in Markets Worldwide

Sunnyvale, CA -- March 23, 2004 -- Yahoo! Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - News), a leading global Internet company, today announced that the company plans to further expand the global reach of Yahoo! Mail (http://mail.yahoo.com) with the introduction of new language versions. Targeting the Russian speaking population around the world and languages in emerging international markets, Yahoo! Mail will introduce a Russian language version in the coming weeks. The company expects further global expansion of Yahoo! Mail into Eastern European and Southeast Asian languages later this year. Separately, Yahoo! Mail today rolled out innovative anti-spam tools to consumers worldwide, strengthening its leadership in offering effective spam control solutions to its users.

Currently available in 25 world properties, Yahoo! Mail's popularity continues to grow around the world. Yahoo! Mail in Russian will spearhead the emerging market expansion, followed by the introduction of new Eastern European and Southeast Asian language versions, including Polish, Turkish, Bahasa, Thai and Vietnamese, later this year. The market for Yahoo! Mail in Russian encompasses the 2-3 million Russian speaking people in the U.S. as well as the entire Russian speaking diaspora, comprising approximately 35 million people living outside of Russia in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and countries outside the CIS. (Moscow International Relations Department, May 2003). The growing population of online users in Russia will also be able to take advantage of the service. Of the 10 million Russians who have Internet access today, 90 percent of those users value e-mail as the most popular online tool, according to June 2003 MASMI Research.

Yahoo! Mail continues to empower users around the world with effective and easy-to-use anti-spam tools. Consumers in markets worldwide now have free access to AddressGuard. This popular feature allows people to establish up to 500 substitute e-mail addresses that are easily managed from their primary Yahoo! Mail account, for different life situations (e.g. one for family, one for online shopping, one for dating, etc.). If at any time that address is sold or harvested by spammers, the e-mail user can easily delete the address without affecting their primary e-mail address. This is particularly important, given that 45 percent of survey respondents are not comfortable giving out their primary e-mail address when joining an online community through a news group, message board or chat room.** Additionally, international users can take advantage of the Anti-Spam Resource Center where they can learn everything they need to know about spam and how Yahoo!
