Nintendo E3 2005 Conference Overview

Nintendo E3 2005 Conference Overview

Hotel Booking Picture over a thousand eager Nintendo fans crammed into the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, California at roughly 9:00 AM this morning. Now, picture the purple and blue lights that lit up Nintendos alternative-style conference room, complete with a booming subwoofer that literally made the room shake, bringing a room full of journalists to life.

In addition, Minagawa said, "Like our Nintendo DS portable game machine, our home game machine must offer an experience that can be enjoyed by adults, children, or women. We would like to show this at E3 next spring." And they will. According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun, who quotes senior Nintendo executives, Nintendo's next home console will be shown at E3. However, the E3 in everyone's minds is not the E3 Nintendo plans to show the N5 off at. Nintendo plans to have the N5 ready for E3 2005, not E3 2004 which is just three months away.

Travel Agency Thats a little snippet of the picture of what things looked like this morning at Nintendos annual pre-E3 press conference.

Perhaps the two most critically acclaimed titles on the purple (or black) box of fun that is the GameCube. Zelda the Wind Waker and Metroid Prime are two of Nintendo's biggest and most popular franchises, which therefore suggests that if Nintendo are to showcase said sequels at the Pre E3 conference, this could go some way towards generating some good momentum before the annual holiday season bartering begins for another year.

Cheap Hotel In short, Nintendos conference had its ups and downs. You can of course say Nintendo was successful in putting on a show. The Electro Plankton presentation combined with the intriguing nintendogs demo was no doubt intriguing. Then again, the whole time thousands of Nintendo fans and gamers sat in their seats awaiting the good stuff the Revolution unveiling because they truly thought it was coming. Many have been waiting for E3 to finally learn just what makes the Nintendo Revolution so revolutionary, and, well, when Nintendo told the over packed Kodak Theater that itd have to wait to see the systems controller as well as learn what earned it its code name, I think that many couldnt help but feel disappointed or at least I couldnt help but feel that way.

And as for Nintendo's GameCube successor "Comment on this will come from the highest levels, " Aime. "The focus and commitment we have on this will be shown at E3." If there are any new details to be unveiled about Nintendo's next console, E3 press conference or subsequent interviews with executives. GCAdvanced will be certain to bring you these details and more as soon as we can from the Expo floor.

Flight Booking Indeed, the Revolution design is slick, sexy and stylish. It, in my opinion, looks the coolest of all three systems beating out not only the Xbox 360 in cool points but the PlayStation 3 to boot. I think thats quite an accomplishment for Nintendo. Theyve come a far way from the purple lunchbox-esque design of the GameCube. However, while Sony and Microsoft both showed off hyped-up next-generation game trailers for their upcoming system, Nintendo chose show off an underwhelming 15-second clip of Metroid for Revolution. Heck, they couldnt even show us a controller, which might actually suggest its partly what makes the system so revolutionary, was downright disappointing. Why even talk about Revolution if all you can show is a prototype version something that has a very good chance of not ever making it to store shelves Then again, Im very excited that Nintendo is already working on a Metroid project for Revolution.

Earlier today, GameCube Advanced reported that an E3 2004 Nintendo pamplet had been released containing the list of Nintendo's E3 2004 titles, along with a screenshot for each one. However, after investigating the matter, we've learned that the list is completely fake. "It's a completely unsubstatiated rumor." Likewise, IGNcube is reporting that Factor 5 will no longer be creating GameCube software. This surely dismisses the rumored Star Wars Rogue Squadron IV rumor from the pamplet.

Travel Agent Still it, overall, felt like Nintendo was waving a nice juicy piece of steak in front of a starved dog, then, at the last minute, ripped it away from the poor mutt. Unfortunately, we were the mutts.

Pearce also spoke out about Nintendos E3 2005 plans. "Our plan is to talk about our vision for Revolution at E3 next year, and how we're going to revolutionize console gaming, " said Pearce. "At next year's E3 there'll obvious be a lot more discussion about next generation, and we'll be talking about ways we're going to take console gaming forward without just focusing on graphics. But it's far too early to talk about specifics now."

But leading up to the revealing of the Revolution, youd think that Nintendo was a handheld publisher/developer only. The presence of Nintendo DS titles was impressive. Games like Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing DS will simply rock. Then again, while the Electro Plankton and nintendogs presentations were intriguing, as said before, they just werent the reason 1500 people packed into the Kodak Theater this morning. Nintendos spewed so much about creating games that everybody can enjoy over the last several years, yet it spent over half of its conference covering two games that are for very niche markets. In fact, the company openly stated during the conference that they knew that games like Electro Plankton arent for everybody, but for the small portion of gamers that like it, theres a lot of fun to be had.

Online Booking More importantly than any Electro Plankton demo Nintendo could have shown, the company finally acknowledged online play as an important part of todays video game industry. Yeah, theyre a generation late to the game, but at least theyre here. The free Nintendo DS support sounds great, and a very similar system will be employed for the Revolution online network. All in all, Ive been waiting for Nintendo to get online, and it seems like they finally are doing just that.

Travel Health Insurance Nintendo also announced the surprise Game Boy Micro at the event, which had a variety of reactions. Some looked truly interested while others looked completely puzzled. I think the Game Boy Micro, at its heart, is an attempt to sell even more of the popular GBA line. However, for some, the very small GBA will be worth picking up especially for those who are always traveling. However, that absence of a next-generation Game Boy Advance was somewhat disappointing. This is perhaps because Nintendo chose to instead focus its attention on re-releasing the GBA yet again. Meh.

Hotel Reservation Nintendo Conference 2005

After Nintendo spent some time talking about Nintendo DS, Game Boy Micro and Revolution, the company quietly acknowledged the GameCube for the first time in the conference. It showed some quick footage on Battalion Wars, Pokemon XD, Mario Party 7, Mario Baseball, Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix and Super Mario Striker. Across the board, none of them look like theyll be flagship titles, but theyll give GameCube owners something to play throughout the rest of the systems life.

London Hotel Booking Nintendo of course saved its biggest card for last The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The company unleashed a truly epic, dark and mature trailer that ran around a minute and a half. The game looks truly awesome, sharing a mix of new gameplay elements that include horseback-centric gameplay, a new wolf-transformation dynamic and an all-new storyline that could possibly rival the best storyline in the series. This was pretty much the best part of the show, even if it was a surprise. The trailer was impressive not only visually speaking as Nintendos sown together an ambitious art style with decent texturing and smooth animation but equally impressive in terms of audio. The Kodak Theater truly roared to life this morning when Nintendo played the new trailer. And if the sound of Twilight Princess wasnt enough to bring the room to life, then the thousands of happy Nintendo fans clapping together sure was.

Discount Travel All in all, E3 2005 was far from Nintendos strongest showing, but amongst all of the strong disappointment, I find myself trying to find the good in the conference. Because, after all, while we arent exactly left with our mouths hanging open, it could have been a lot worse.
