Multiple-entry visas that have not expired are still valid. san francisco hotel Andrew Work, executive director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, said the ban would create serious inconvenience for foreigners living and working in Hong Kong. This is a real hassle for foreign small- and medium-sized business owners ... it s bound to slow business down and we hope that normal access to the mainland will be restored soon. One travel agent who declined to be named said: People have been asking to renew their multiple-entry visas but no one can get more than a double-entry visa. We were told this was because of the Olympics and that the ban would be lifted in September after the Games had finished. air ticket booking Daryl Bending, of Concord Travel, said even permanent Hong Kong residents who had previously been given three-year multiple-entry visas were affected. No one is being given more than a double-entry visa. The reason given was the Olympics but there were suggestions that after the Games things would return to normal, he said. I am planning a trip w/ my parents (mid-50s) and grandparents to somewhere in MX, on either coast. I have been doing lots of research but it feels like everything recommended, even so-called not too touristy is still really touristy. I know there must be a Mexico out there that isn t swarming with Americans who like to eat in chain restaurants and stay in hotels with HBO, but I don t know how to find it! We can t go completely off-the-beaten path b/c I ll be traveling with my elderly relatives, but we really want to avoid those resort-y places everyone goes to for spring break. I think we ll probably want to rent a house and maybe a car. Ideally there would be some neat cultural stuff in the area. Playa Carmen has been recommended but it sounds very touristy--maybe there s another side to it I don t know about... I m hoping TTers are in the know about this! hotel booking florence thanks, mp413 Re: Where is off-the-beaten path enough for

02-Dec-2007 17:32 Marge Colima, Colima is a great place for mixed generations. Real middle class Mexico, few tourists, a nice safe place with lots of culture and with in easy driving of the coast. Lots of things going on with the University, dance, plays, exhibitions. The Colima State band plays in the gazebo in the park, Sundays at 7 PM. Several nice Museums and interesting nearby towns like Comala. There is a Saturday evening craft market and two local ruins. adventure travel If you are renting a car it is easy driving. You can fly into Guadalajara or PV and bus from there (not sure I would want to drive in Guadalajara - PV would be OK.). You could also fly into the Manzanillo airport. I would rent the car in Colima, although the Manzanilla airport might work also. seattle hotel If you fly into Manzanilla you are very close to Melaque and Barra de Navidad that another poster recommended. There is a good local airport but it doesn t have international flights. You can fly to the Colima Airport from Mexico city and several other places in Mexico like Tijuana. Colima is 60 Km inland from the beach. The road is a 4 lane tollway. I am sure you could rent a house or apartment in Colima. The place to look would be the local daily paper, Diario de Colima. Last time there (July) I saw several funished rentals available by week or month. booking buddy com Posts: 716 Registered: 16/01/05 Posted: 02-Dec-2007 19:54
So . . . interested in mountains, beaches, archaeology/ruinas, colonial cities, nature preserves, pop culture, museums, camping on semi-deserted beaches, deserts, mountains, hiking, small dusty towns where no one speaks English and there s nothing to do, driving on impassable, frightening roads, hanging out with narco trafficers, etc discount hotel deal If you just want to avoid Spring Breakers and a million drunken young American kids, don t go to beach towns during Spring Break. Otherwise, just browse the LP Mexico Guide (or another guidebook or two), select a few areas that seem interesting to you and then post here asking specific questions. If you re questions are to the point, you ll get lots of helpful comments and suggestions. room booking software Posts: 38 Registered: 01/05/02 Posted: 03-Dec-2007 00:35
