Discount Travel Attempted home entries this year in New Jersey stood at 20 on Aug. 24. There were four attempted entries reported in 2001.

Orlando Hotel The number of bears attacking dogs stands at 13 so far this year, up from six last year.

Booking Agency Ivany said bears are looking for garbage, food left on grills, dog food left in bowls in the back yard and any other food left outside.

International Travel Medical "It's been an active year, and we're going to have an active fall," Ivany said.

New York Hotel The spokesman said leaving food outside for bears causes "a more aggressive bear population losing its fear of people."

Online Travel Booking New Jersey's estimated bear population stands about 1,900. Most of the bears live north of Interstate 80 and west of Interstate 287, Ivany said. But bears are moving south and east, he said.

Travel Medical Insurance Pennsylvania's bear population is estimated at 15,000 animals.

Miami Hotel "Ideally, we want these bears to pass by residential areas without finding a food reward that would cause them to stay and become a problem," Ternent said.
