Cyclades Ships AlterPath-TM- KVM/net KVM-over-IP Switch

Product Extends Reach of Cyclades' Out-of-Band IT Infrastructure Management System

MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 2004-- Cyclades Corporation, a leader in IT infrastructure management for data centers and branch offices worldwide, today announced its AlterPath(TM) KVM/net, keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) switch is now shipping. By enabling data center administrators to securely access and control connected servers from a Web browser located anywhere, the KVM-over-IP offering extends Cyclades' comprehensive system of products that use an alternate (out-of-band) path to access and manage IT infrastructure devices, reducing operational costs and risk while increasing service levels. Cyclades' systems approach to out-of-band management sets the company apart from competitors by providing consolidated management of all out-of-band technologies, including serial console servers, KVM switches and power management devices.
Cyclades' integrated system, centered in its infrastructure management gateway, the AlterPathTM Manager E2000, allows IT professionals to access, view and manage individual networked hardware, including routers, servers and other IT equipment over an alternative (out-of-band) path that works even when connectivity is lost or the network is down. The system eliminates the need to individually monitor and attend to each piece of equipment, reducing operational costs and freeing operations staff from routine installation and maintenance activities.

"Enterprises continue to grow more complex and fragmented and now include a wide range of devices spread across multiple data centers and remote sites," said John Lima, Cyclades' president and head of European operations. "Without an effective centralized way to access and manage each piece of equipment, IT professionals must physically touch each device, often for routine maintenance tasks and also to restore network connectivity when it is lost. Our system provides a more effective way to maintain and elevate services levels, while significantly reducing labor, logistical and other operational costs, a vital benefit in today's competitive business environment."

Like all Cyclades products, the AlterPath KVM/net provides out-of-the-box integration with the AlterPathTM Manager E2000 and the company's serial console servers and power management devices. Furthermore, the product offers a clear advantage over other KVM switches by providing unique support for enterprise security standards that allow seamless integration with organizations' existing security systems, reducing the cost of deployment, and total cost of ownership.

The 16-port AlterPathTM KVM/net16 is currently available for EUR 4.423,00 (MSRP), while the 32-port AlterPathTM KVM/net32 is priced at EUR 6.637,00 (MSRP). Additional information on the AlterPathTM family of products is available at www.cyclades.com.
