Hotel Chicago Issues of faith and sexuality are often marked by controversy, pain and risk. The welcome of the ELCA creates a possibility that we may yet grow to a new understanding of faith and sexuality. This will only come about by open dialogue that includes gay and lesbian voices and is grounded in faithful prayer and community discernment. This kind of dialogue also requires courage and a deep mutual commitment to view one another as people made in God's image. We do not serve this dialogue by casting off Scripture and tradition as irrelevant or blindly clinging to past dogmas. We are called to listen to one another, critically read Scripture and tradition, and seek God's guidance together.
